The Old-Fashioned Way.

I’ve got that old-fashioned dream in my heart And there it shall always be Although the land may change to sea It will never make any change in me coz I've got that old-fashioned love in my heart.
— Old Fashioned Love
Some days, I wish I could go back in time, and be born about 80 years ago. That would be awesome. So you can call me old-fashioned but hell when it comes to love, i really take it seriously. Everyone knows that. I don't play with it, coz it's not a game to begin with. This world, hell, my generation in obsessed with physical things. They’re obsessed with large breasts, perfect figures, expensive clothing, celebrities, Marijuana, partying, and spending ridiculously large amounts of money just for the sake of boasting or bragging. Most of the men of my generation believe that a girl is not a woman if she’s fat, has/got small boobs, or doesn't walk around half naked. They've forgotten how to act, how to show respect, and it’s just really sad.

I wish to see the way things were when my grandmother and my parents were young. I’d love to see what exactly it is that makes them glare at the things my generation seems to worship. I want to see the respect they mourn, the values they speak of, as if they’re dead. I guess i'm just an old fashioned girl. I would rather have a guy ask me on a few dates, open a door for me, go get me some popcorn and all that kind of stuff. He would take me up on a hill, on a blanket overlooking the city, and ask me to be his girlfriend. I mean that is so much more attractive than "Hey wanna go out?" or " Wanna be my girlfriend?". Coz I would rather have something cute, old fashioned and sweet outta heart than to have something easy as a pie, that's just me though.

Sometimes I think that I was born in the wrong decade. I want to live in the time where going out dancing means going out to a fancy restaurant that has a dance floor with a live band playing swing music. Where most men were gentlemen and treated girls with respect, like ladies. Where you can wear pretty dresses with full skirts everyday without being asked if you’re going to a wedding. When cheating men and women were scorned instead of congratulated for getting away for it as long as they did. Where grand gestures of love were performed and marriages didn’t have a 50% chance of ending in divorce. That is where I would like to thrive.

Like vintage things just comes of naturally. I mean, it’s who I am..people call me an “old soul”. I have always been told I'm an old soul. HAHA My professor in World Literature actually called me one. And sometimes I feel like, it's because I've grown up too fast, almost like I was forced to because of my childhood or there lack of. I had to hide my emotions, internalize them all, because if I expressed anger or sadness, emotions I often felt, I was a bad girl, then would be punished. Like the saying, only speak when spoken to, but I was never spoken to, so I didn't learn that I could stand up for myself, until now.

It’s so hard to find other people who enjoys old classic films like Breakfast at Tiffany's, My Fair Lady, Scarlet Letter, or Gone With The Wind, or literature from hundreds of years ago, Dante's Infierno, Pride And Prejudice, Emma, and many more!. I so love classic books, vinyl records, I actually use my grandpop's player for the sake of listening The Beatles or The Rolling Stones, old Hollywood (Marlon Brando, Humphrey Bogart, Audrey Hepburn, and Katherine Hepburn), writing in my diary, just about everything vintage. Who in the world will still do all these things? Well apparently me. Sometimes i think that i'm talking to someone who might enjoy reading as much i do, but then i find out that they don’t. It’s a real let down when i have no one to “talk” old movies with. Or talk about literary classics.

I’m not one of those people that’s a grandma before her years.. but I’m still young okaaay? :> and I love to have fun. I love going to concerts and blasting my music as loud as it will go. And it’s not that I don’t enjoy modern movies..cause I do. I love going to the movies. But on the other hand, I love history, and anything old for that matter.  Does anyone else feel like that?
